Overview

The PASMA Work at Height (Novice) course is designed for individuals who are new to working at height and need to develop the fundamental knowledge and skills required to safely use mobile access towers. This course is ideal for those with little or no experience in working at height or using tower scaffolding. It focuses on the essential safety practices, regulations, and techniques needed to ensure that work is carried out safely and efficiently when using mobile access towers in construction, maintenance, and other environments.

The course utilises a theory only session to equip participants with a clear understanding of the risks associated with working at height. At the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge to work safely at height in compliance with current legislation and PASMA standards.

Who Should Attend?

The PASMA Work at Height (Novice) course is aimed at anyone who is new to working at height and is required to use mobile access towers as part of their job. It is suitable for:

  • New employees who need to use mobile access towers
  • Site workers, construction workers, or tradespeople working at height
  • Maintenance personnel working on tasks above ground level
  • Individuals involved in cleaning, inspection, or other services at height

  • Emergency Procedures: Understanding what to do in the event of an emergency, including safe evacuation procedures, how to deal with falls or accidents, and the role of emergency services.

Certification & Assessment

Upon successful completion of the PASMA Work at Height (Novice) course, participants will receive:

  • PASMA Work at Height (Novice) Certificate
  • PASMA Photo ID Card, which confirms the individual is competent to use mobile access towers safely and in compliance with PASMA standards.

Assessment: Participants will need to complete a written exam: A short multiple-choice test covering safety regulations, the correct use of mobile access towers, risk assessments, and legal duties.

Validity: The PASMA certification is valid for 5 years. After this period, a revalidation course should be completed to maintain certification.

By completing this course, participants will be fully equipped to work safely with mobile access towers and to recognise and mitigate the risks associated with working at height.
