Overview
The IPAF Mast Climbing Work Platform (MCWP) Operator course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively operate MCWPs. This course combines theoretical and practical training, ensuring participants are competent in operating, inspecting, and understanding the safety systems of MCWPs.
Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for:
- Construction workers or site personnel required to operate MCWPs.
- Maintenance and installation technicians using MCWPs in their work.
- Anyone responsible for the safe use of MCWPs on-site.
No prior experience is necessary; however, candidates must be physically fit and not afraid of heights, as the course involves working at height.
What You’ll Learn
- Key legislation, standards, and guidelines for MCWP operation.
- The components, safety systems, and working mechanisms of MCWPs.
- Pre-use inspections, reporting of defects, and ensuring the MCWP is safe for use.
- Correct procedures for setting up, operating, and safely shutting down the equipment.
- Emergency procedures, including safe descent in case of failure.
Certification & Assessment
Assessment: Candidates will be assessed through a written theory test and a practical operating test.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an IPAF MCWP Operator Certificate and an IPAF PAL Card (Powered Access License) digitally via the IPAF ePAL app which is recognised internationally as proof of the operator’s competence to safely operate MCWPs and is valid for 5 years.
